Creating a Campaign

How to create a campaign and what information to include to get the best grant matches and application drafts.

A campaign is how you tell Fundin what you need funding for. It could be a specific project, core funding for salaries, or capital funding for a building or equipment — anything you want to apply for.

You only need to set a campaign up once. Fundin then uses that information to match you to relevant grants and generate application drafts.

How to create a campaign

Go to Campaigns in the left-hand menu and click Create campaign in the top right corner.

You have two options:

AI generated campaign — enter a title and a short description and the AI will build the campaign for you. This is the quickest way to get started.

AI file upload — upload a PDF or Word document such as a project brief or a past application and the AI will pre-fill the campaign from it. This is ideal if you already have existing documents about your project.

Once the campaign has been generated, review it and make any changes before saving.

What makes a strong campaign

The more detail you provide, the better your grant matches and application drafts will be. When reviewing your campaign, check that you have included:

  • A clear description of what you are delivering — who is involved, where, how often, and over what time period.

  • A budget — a breakdown of how funding will be spent. Funders expect to see this.

  • Clear outcomes — what will change as a result of this work? Think about the difference it will make to the people you support.

  • Supporting files — upload anything that helps evidence the need or impact of your work. Good examples include impact reports, case studies, testimonials, and data about the people you support. You can upload PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, PNG, and JPG files up to 50MB each.

💡 What happens next: Head to the Matched Grants tab to see the grants Fundin has identified for you.

Your bid writing expert can review your campaign with you — either in your monthly strategy call, or ad hoc by email if you'd rather not wait.

Using Claude or ChatGPT to build your campaign

If you've connected Fundin to Claude, you can build a campaign without touching the platform at all. Just describe your project in a chat and ask Claude to create the campaign for you.

A few things you could ask:

  • "Create a campaign for a youth mentoring project in Sheffield. We need £30,000 to run weekly sessions for 50 young people over 12 months."

  • "I've got a project brief — can you turn it into a Fundin campaign?"

  • "Review my existing campaign and suggest what's missing."

See Using Fundin with other LLMs for how to set this up.
