You can connect Fundin to Claude using MCP on any plan. Once connected, Claude can search the grant database, check your matched grants, look at your campaigns and applications, and read your organisation profile, all from a normal chat.
This means you can ask Claude things like "find me grants for a youth project in Leeds" or "what's my readiness score and what's holding it back?" and it will pull live, accurate data from your Fundin account rather than guessing.
💡 What is MCP? MCP (Model Context Protocol) is what lets Claude securely connect to other apps and pull in real data. Think of it as giving Claude a key to your Fundin account so it can actually look things up, rather than just chatting.
Setting it up
In Fundin, go to My Account → Claude
Click Add Fundin to Claude — this opens Claude's connector settings
Choose Add custom connector, then copy these into the Name and URL fields:

Sign in and approve access — that's it, you're connected
💡 Tip: Start a new chat and ask "what grants do you have matched for me?" to confirm the connection is working before you build anything more complex.
Tool permissions
Claude will ask before using certain tools, depending on the permission level you've set. Tools that only read data (like searching grants or checking your readiness score) are low risk.
Tools that create or change something (like updating a campaign or an application answer) are worth reviewing each time, especially while you're getting used to it.
💡 You can adjust this any time under Manage your profile → Claude → Tool permissions. If you'd rather approve every action manually at first, set permissions to Custom and review each one.
What Claude can see
Once connected, Claude has access to your own Fundin account only, including:
The grant database and your matched grants
Your campaigns, applications and application answers
Your organisation profile and readiness score
Your outcome goals, estimated expenses and bid library documents
⚠️ Claude can only see data tied to your own organisation. It cannot see other organisations' data, and it cannot submit applications or make payments on your behalf.
What if something isn't working?
If Claude says it can't see your Fundin data, check the connection is still active under Manage your profile → Claude. If it's showing as connected but still isn't working, disconnect and reconnect.
