As well as our fully managed bid writing service, you can draft applications yourself using our AI. This is called self draft and is available on all plans at no extra cost.
Self drafted applications do not go through your bid writer — the AI generates the draft and you review, edit, and submit it yourself.
Self draft applications are unlimited and do not use your monthly credits.
When to use self draft
Self draft is useful when you want to move quickly on an opportunity, want to handle a particular application yourself, or want to draft something outside of your agreed pipeline.
How to self draft
You can start a self draft application from two places:
Matched grants — open a campaign and find a grant in your matched list. Select it and choose to self draft rather than adding it to your managed pipeline.
Grant database — find a grant in the database and choose to self draft directly from the grant page.
The AI will generate a draft based on your campaign information, organisation profile, and saved responses — the same information it uses for managed applications. You then review, edit, and approve the draft yourself before submitting directly to the funder.
What's different from managed applications
With self draft there is no bid writer review before the application reaches you. You are responsible for reviewing the quality of the draft, making any edits, and submitting to the funder.
💡 Before submitting a self drafted application, check it carefully against the funder's criteria. The AI draft is a strong starting point but benefits from your knowledge of the funder and your organisation.
Can I ask my bid writer to review a self draft?
If you start a self draft but would like your bid writer to review it before submission, just get in touch and they can take a look. This would use one of your monthly credits.
