What the AI uses to write your draft
The AI draws on everything you've added to Fundin to write your application:
Your campaign — the project, outcomes, and budget you're seeking funding for
Your organisation profile — financials, governance documents, and any impact reports, case studies, or testimonials you've uploaded
Your persona — your tone of voice, if you've set one up
Your saved responses — answers from previous applications, which build into a library of your own words over time
💡 Tip: The more complete your profile, the stronger the first draft.
How the AI checks your context
Before it writes a word, the AI works through the funder's application form question by question and checks each one against everything already in your account.
Your bid library, campaign details, persona, and any saved responses from past applications.
Where it already has enough information it will draft a response. Where there's a genuine gap, it flags the specific question rather than guessing or leaving it blank.
🔵 Info: This context check happens every time, even for funders you've applied to before. So if your profile has changed since your last application, the AI is working from the latest version.
Starting a draft
You can start drafting an application from two places:
Matched grants — open a campaign, find a grant in your matched list, and select it
Grant database — find a grant directly and choose to apply from the grant page
Click Apply Now to run the context check above. For any question the AI has flagged, you can add a sentence to help it answer, and use the Additional Information field for anything specific to that funder. This could be previous feedback, a conversation with a grant officer, or context that doesn't belong anywhere else.
Once you're happy, click Proceed with Application and the AI will generate a full draft response.
What to expect in the first draft
The AI handles structure, pulls in relevant evidence from your profile, and aligns your answers to the funder's stated criteria. Think of it as a strong starting point rather than a finished submission, you're still the one who knows the funder and your organisation best. Getting better drafts over time
Fundin remembers what you tell it about a project, so you only need to add most information once. Each application you complete adds to your saved response library, which means later drafts get closer to your own words with less editing needed.
